Old Glory stands for liberty including the freedom to change what you don’t like about it. No government is perfect. Our flag, however, represents the individual’s freedom, capability and duty to pursue perfection. It has been, and continues to be paid for, in costs unimaginable to those ignorant of its history.
When you disrespect the flag, you disrespect your own ability to right wrongs. Taking a knee is a personal sign of weakness and is one’s own white flag of surrender. To paraphrase the words of Mr. T, “I pity the fool who gives up on him or herself because it only serves to empower those who wish less than the best in all of us”.
