The freedom of speech is a protected public right but not necessarily a protected right within a private enterprise environment. If my employee disrespected the flag I’d fire that employee on the spot as it would reflect poorly on my business and I would be viewed as condoning that action. If an acquaintance of mine did that I’d reprimand that person but respect his or her right to do that. If a stranger did that I’d find another place to watch the event or leave. Old Glory stands for our country, imperfect as it is, and stands for the right for us all to improve it. It also stands as a way to give thanks to all those who have fought for that right. Taking a knee is a gutless, do nothing act that accomplishes nothing for anyone and disrespects all of us.
